I had left him on the floor for a few minutes, playing happily on his back, when I heard a different sort of cry. I walked in on our little man on his stomach in the pushup position, wailing away. Must have scared himself!

The First Birthday Party of Many
Owen attended his very first First Birthday party this weekend. He made out like a champ: wreaking havoc in the ballpit, belting out "Happy Birthday" to the birthday boy, smooshing chocolate cake into his mouth, spilling red wine everywhere, and staying up past his bedtime until he crashed on mummy's shoulder. Squishy Love, All the Way From Germany
You can check out more squishy love here.
Our friend Amanda lives in Berlin. Last week, she sent Owen a package with some very special goodies: squishies and an appliqued t-shirt. She has an Etsy shop where she creates all sorts of wonderful fabric bits, bags, scarves, squishies, and I'm sure there are more to come!
We sure get a kick out of putting the "glasses" on Owen, and all the other squishies she made for him are perfect for little hands to explore. It sounds as if she will soon be making them available to other little hands. Be sure to check it out!

The Elusive Smile
I managed to snap these photos this morning while he sat at the table with me eating breakfast. A beautiful sunny morning and a beautiful, happy boy make a very, very, very happy mama.

Five Months
Our little guy is going to be FIVE MONTHS OLD on Friday. He's been really busy lately, travelling to the USA, lunches at Solly's, shopping trips to Ikea, and just generally amusing and impressing everyone he meets. He is such a happy baby, we are so lucky!
As he weighs 20 lbs (yes, you read that right), and he had been showing interest in food (mainly fussing when we ate in front of him), I made the decision to offer some rice cereal/breastmilk/fruit or veg to him after I nurse him in the morning and evening. Does he ever enjoy it! So far, he has tried avocado, banana, a little yogurt, mango, pear, carrot, and squash. He gets quite impatient, trying to grab the spoon if we don't shovel it in fast enough for him. Since we've offered him some solids after nursing, he has been sleeping a bit better and is generally a much less fussy baby. Naysayers be damned! We know our kiddo the best.
